Charles Noblet

Noblet

Three suites for harpsichord three suites
Three sonatas for violin and harpsichord three sonatas

Charles Noblet (1715–1769), was a leading keyboard player and teacher in mid-eighteenth-century Paris. He served as organist at several Parisian churches and became resident harpsichordist first at the school of singing attached to the Opera and finally for the Opera orchestra itself. As a composer he wrote chamber cantatas, several of which exist, and sacred vocal music. Although none of his organ music was published, in 1757 he brought out a collection of keyboard music, comprising three suites for harpsichord and three sonatas scored for harpsichord plus ‘accompanying’ violin, and this, fortunately, has survived.
