Colin Timms retired in 2012 from the University of Birmingham, where he held the Peyton and Barber Chair of Music for twenty years. His research revolves around Steffani, on whom he has published two books and many articles. He has edited two volumes of Steffani chamber duets and cantatas and two volumes of Alessandro Stradella’s opera omnia. He also edited Theodora for the Hallische Händel-Ausgabe (2008) and Comus for the Novello Handel Edition (2016). His most recent publication, which discusses La canzona che volete and Steffani’s Stabat Mater, appeared in Early Music, 47 (February 2019).
